Students Set to Shine at SABIS® STARS 2016

On April 22 and 23, 2016, students from across the SABIS® Network will shine in the 2016 SLO® Talent & Academic RegionalS (SABIS® STARS) competition. The much-anticipated biennial event, which will take place at the International School of Choueifat – Dubai (ISC-Dubai) in the U.A.E., is set to bring together over 600 students from 28 SABIS® Network schools in Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Germany, Jordan, Kurdistan, K.S.A., Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Romania, and the U.A.E. for an exceptional showcase of academic acumen, innovation, and talent.

Throughout the two-day event, students will participate in competitions that will showcase their mastery of knowledge and critical thinking skills. The 11 competition categories will include debates and speeches, student-created advertising campaigns, science and art exhibitions with students’ original projects, photography, and paintings, as well as poetry recitals. This year, the new category “Our World, Our Concern” is expected to draw a lot of interest as students share a presentation and an awareness campaign about a prevalent world issue which they have chosen to address based on in-depth research.

All competitions will be judged by a panel of qualified judges hand-picked from among school staff, parents, and the local community.

SABIS® STARS is one of a number of international events that are held in order to bring together students from SABIS® Network schools around the world to compete in a positive, healthy, and inspiring environment. An equally anticipated event is the SABIS® Regional Tournament, a sporting event which alternates with SABIS® STARS and is set to take place in the spring of 2017.
